    Banks issuing shares in lieu of 2008 interim dividend

    Bradford & Bingley, HBOS and Royal Bank of Scotland have all announced that they will not be paying their 2008 interim dividend in cash, but will be distributing new shares of an equivalent value to the cash dividend that would otherwise have been paid. The shares are not a dividend and will not be taxed as one.
